The Book of Enoch Glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ!Though the Book of Enoch was written before the birth of Jesus Christ, it spends quite a few chapters describing Jesus in a prophetic vision which Enoch sees. When we consider the descriptions Enoch uses, an astounding picture emerges... In Enoch, the “Son of Man” accompanies the “Ancient of Days”, (Enoch 46:2). The Son of Man is destined to become “the light to the nations” (Enoch 48:4). He is portrayed in imagery as a heavenly shepherd, who waters his flock by an “inexhaustible Fountain of Righteousness” (Enoch 48:1). The name of this heavenly Person is ONLY to be revealed by God to those whom he chooses, and it is ONLY in His name those he chooses will be saved (Enoch 48:6). Enoch also says this heavenly Person existed before the creation of all things, (Enoch 48:3) and is destined to take his seat on a glorious throne for the purpose of judging the world, (Enoch 45:3) and it is God Himself who will seat this One on the throne of God’s own glory (Enoch 51:3). Enoch states, ultimately the entire world will bow down before the Son of Man and worship him (Enoch 48:5). The Names of Jesus in the Book of Enoch! This heavenly person is called the “Son of Man”, the “Elect One”, the “Righteous One” and God’s “Annointed” One. Obviously, the only person who fits this description in all those ways is Jesus Christ, who lived, loved, died, rose from the dead, and ascended to the right hand of the Father, from where he will come again to judge the living and the dead! Yet this prophecy was written before Jesus was ever born! (All verse numbers taken from the R.H. Charles translation of the Book of Enoch). |
